<p>A locksmith advised me to avoid gun safes that use electronic locks. The Simplex lock on my box is purely mechanical and fast to open. This box is rugged. I got it mainly to keep the guns accessible yet secure from my grandchildren.</p>

<p>I bought this box about 15 years ago. It still works like new. The only thing I do not care for is the hard corners, and when you hit something combined with the heavy weight, it can leave quite a bad mark in whatever you hit. Mine has a handle on it. I also think it is great because it is EMP proof. Hay Fort Knox, maybe put some hard rubber corners on it.</p>

My new Fort Knox PB-1 arrived quicker than I expected. It was packaged safely and arrived in perfect condition. This thing is built like a tank. I’ve owned several handgun safes and this tops them all. No batteries or electronics to go bad....it opens quickly, quietly and surely. I added a motion sensor light which works great. I Bolted it to my nightstand so it isn’t going anywhere.
